Sea of Green

Penstemon digitalis, the native giant beardstongue

Buddelia alternafolia, supposedly not hard here

Miss Kim Korean lilac
I'm having a hard time apturing any sorts of views that realy show my garden or the cool plants in it.  It just seems like a sea of green.  I guess that's better than snow, which it seems like just melted yesterday.

I'm not sure if I'm not staging my garden well, or if it is a massive failure in design, or what.  Thoughts?  Maybe a massive failure to edit, or a freak of our weather.

  1. I think your garden looks amazing! I really love the golden-foliaged touches in the first two pictures (barberry, etc.). You have great foliage plants in your garden, which to me does it all. I'm not a person who likes overkill on blooms all at once. Your garden looks lush and has a really nice balance of flowers and colored foliage on a green background.

  2. But, all I could think was 'Wow looks like a full recovery from that dreadful endless winter!' The honeysuckle or ? orange/peach vine is romantic and lush, and I can see I need more hostas...

    1. Yes, I think winter is behind us. That is honeysuckle and the bloom has orange, peach, and yellow in it and blooms all summer. I took it as a cutting of my dear S-I-L's (mother of the Gardening Twins and Baby Boo).

  3. Oh, stop it. It's not really a sea of green, but there is more green than there will be soon just because of the season. Your garden looks great. Your trumpet honeysuckle, in particular, looks fantastic. I even like your hostas, and I don't like hostas. Go have a beer and look at the pictures again.

    1. LMAO, Jason. It does just look green to me. I'm obviously obsessing. Tunnel vision, with the garden walk, it's such a tiny, personal, garden. It's like a gardening final exam for me. Can you tell I'm stressing it? Part of it is, I think,is that I profess to know what I'm doing, but don't have any "credentials" at all. I see sawfly, black spot, and strange beetles everywhere...my OC is kicking it...

  4. I've displayed my garden (for the Wild Ones, but still), and I have no credentials. Obviously they think you've got the stuff or they wouldn't have asked you to put your garden on display. Sounds like you'll have all kinds of plants nobody else has. And the only way to be bug and disease free is to spray all kinds of stuff that isn't worth it. You can proclaim your garden "organic" or "sustainable" or something.
